  • Archon Cloud is a cloud storage service, similar to Amazon S3. Fast, reliable, and with an intuitive interface.

    By the time we launch mainnet, we will be completely decentralized. Users will be able to:

    1. Pay into the Archon Cloud system
    2. Upload files into our network, and
    3. Receive an Archon URL to either download the file, or view it directly in the browser

    Users do not need to spin up or manage any servers, SSL keys, or DNS records in order to use us. Our network will handle everything.

  • At Archon, we created a process called decentralized downloads. We created this process so that we can download files in such a way that it is decentralized (by relying on miners and blockchain data), reliable (by regenerating any missing data), and safe (by verifying that the file downloaded matches what the original uploader signed).

    This is how a decentralized download works:

    1. An Archon URL is detected
    2. The Archon URL is mapped to miners in the Archon Cloud using the (soon to be blockchain based) Archon DNS
    3. The Archon URL's fileshards are downloaded from those miners
    4. The fileshards are decoded into the original file, regenerating missing data if any data is missing
    5. Your client verifies that the decoded file matches the original file signed by the uploader
    6. If your client is a browser, the decoded and verified file is injected into your browser

    This process makes data stored in our system highly reliable, since it can heal from damaged or missing data.

    Furthermore, it makes downloads safe, since downloaders always verify that the file they get matches the uploader's signature.

    It is also extremely fast, according to our initial benchmark.

    Furthermore, when we launch our mainnet, this process will be completely decentralized. No single entity controls your data, and no single entity will be the point of failure for the download.

  • We created the Wikipedia desktop page benchmark by doing the following:

    1. We selected a few random Wikipedia pages, which are originally hosted on centralized CDN servers
    2. We stored all of their static assets (HTML, images, scripts, stylesheets, etc.) into Archon Cloud
    3. We conducted the decentralized downloads of the Wikipedia pages directly in the browser
    4. We timed the difference between the centralized downloading/rendering of the Wikipedia page and our decentralized downloading/rendering of the Wikipedia page

    Adding decentralized downloads to entire Wikipedia desktop pages incurs less than 100ms delay on average, which is unnoticable to most people.

    There are roughly 30 decentralized downloads per wikipedia page on average. This means each decentralized download (which involves healing missing data and verifying the file is correct) incurs on average less than 3ms delay.

    What this mean is that by the time we launch our mainnet, we will be a fully decentralized network, yet the speed of downloading from our network will not be noticably slowed down by any decentralized processes (file verification, regenerating missing data, using the blockchain-based DNS, etc.).

  • We have built out our infrastructure (everything except for the blockchain), and it is currently being tested in an internal beta network.

    By March 31, we will have finished building out an integration with the Neo blockchain. We have a Neo smart contract currently deployed in the Neo testnet. With this integration, a Neo user can upload files into Archon Cloud using only a Neo wallet and some Neo gas tokens.

    Archon Cloud is not yet decentralized, because our current blockchain implementation is governed by our centralized master nodes. We will soon turn it into a trusted blockchain, and shortly after, a fully trustless blockchain when we launch our mainnet.
